Affiliate Internet Marketing i-MarketingOrganizer

Jude Wright might be on of the most unorganized affiliate marketers, but not anymore. Jude's been working in Internet Marketing for a lot of years. Don't worry Jude, I won't say how many!

As a basically unorganized person, Jude admits, "I was losing everything! I needed a solution to help me find the information that I wrote on slips of paper, kept in notebooks and saved in emails. I wanted to find that information fast!"

An old hand at creating databases for the construction industry, Jude turned her attentions to making one for Internet Marketing too.

The result is a MUST have application for Affiliate Marketers called i-MarketingOrganizer.

The Version 1 software application is the result of Jude's real world experiences in Affiliate Internet Marketing, lots of research, and hard work. i-MarketingOrganizer works beautifully!

Personally, I can't even begin to tell you how valuable a little application this is. Imagine having all your affiliate program account information at your fingertips 24/7 … imagine having all you passwords and usernames waiting for you on your desktop every time you need them … and most importantly, imagine finding any of them in seconds.

No more scraps of paper or notebooks filled with scribbles. Welcome to the enlightened age of Affiliate Marketing … welcome to the world of i-MarketingOrganizer.

Is MySpace A Waste?

I see a lot of affiliates running over to MySpace and creating accounts. Okay, well that's not entirely true. Really it's more like a bunch of affiliate marketers trying to do anything to get the search engine to see them running over to MySpace and making accounts.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if all the sex kittens on MySpace decided to make all the fakers their "friends" … meaning, I wonder how long before the kids of MySpace will tolerate their cool environment being capitalize on by nerds with clean cut used car salesmen smiles?

Am I being too harsh or are their acceptable lines that have been crossed here in the affiliate marketing space?

How Blogs And RSS Boost Your Search Engine Visibility

Marketers have found that blogs are excellent tools for communicating with their audience. Anyone who has something to sell or an idea to promote can benefit from using blogs.
Search engine marketers especially favour blogs because they have a number of features that make them the darling of search engines.

1. Fresh, Updated, Relevant Content

When you write a good blog about a theme that youre passionate about and post to it frequently, youre creating fresh, keyword-rich, content that search engines love.

2. Natural, One-Way Links

Search engines view links to your site as a recommendation of your site content. More links pointing to your site or blog boosts your visibility and search engine rankings.

Google gives more weight to natural, one-way incoming links, and blogs make it easy to get two types of one-way links to your site.

Similarly Themed Blogs

A well-written, authoritative blog, with unique content, is likely to get linked to from a number of other bloggers writing on similar topics. These are natural links that are viewed highly and given more weight by search engines like Google.

RSS Feed Syndication

Blogs and the RSS feeds built into them, help you build valuable, one-way links to your site by syndicating your content online.

3. Get Indexed Within Hours

When you post to a blog it pings a number of services that list blogs. This notifies the service that your blog has been updated.

Search engines like Google give more weight to blogs that are updated regularly. It is possible to get your pages indexed in Google and other search engines within hours of writing your first blog post.

Compared to the time it takes to index a website (days, even weeks), you can see why blogs are better search engine optimisation tools than static websites.

Indirect SEO Benefits of Blogs

Besides the SEO benefits, a well-written, authoritative blog can also create publicity and branding for you, which promotes even more people to read and link to your blog.

Starting Out With Affiliate Programs

Lets start with an important fact. Though you can earn from affiliate marketing even without the benefit of having your own website, it is still a much better option that you get one. A website is the anchor of your work at home business. It will be easier to promote your business and products or affiliate products if you have your own pages in cyber space.

We have previously discussed the basics of creating your own website and optimizing the same for the search engines.

Text Link Ads

In this article, were going to tackle some initial steps you should take in securing an enrollment to an affiliate program and in ensuring that it will be a profitable enterprise. Study these steps carefully.

* Choose the right affiliate program as covered in last weeks article.

* Enroll for the said program. Keep in mind that before you can be a part of this work at home business, you must first opt-in, or verify your application, through your email.

* Once enrolled, you will be given access to a website where you must log in. Do not forget your login details.

* You will see the list of the affiliate merchants products inside. You will be given the option to choose a product for which a campaign will be launched. Once a product is chosen, you will be furnished an affiliate link. Do not lose this affiliate link!

With your affiliate link at hand, its time to move to the next level!

Your affiliate link is what will tell the affiliate programs system that a purchaser was referred by you. Your pre-sells that end up becoming successful sales are actually coursed through your affiliate links, thus informing the affiliate program that commissions are due to you.

It is quite evident then that affiliate marketing as a work at home business is all about persuading a potential customer to at least check out the affiliate merchants products through your affiliate link. The reason why affiliate marketing is called, well, marketing is because you need some promotional strategies to induce a person to become a purchaser.

We will discuss these marketing strategies in the next article.

The success of an enrollment with an affiliate program as a work at home business depends on the amount of commitment and effort you invest in the same. Being an affiliate, you must remember, is an online job, but a job nonetheless. You cannot just sit down and let this home business earn for you, at least, not initially.

Eventually however, you should be able to automate most of the process by installing some tools for a self-sufficient system of your own. We will cover this thoroughly in subsequent articles.

DoubleClick Buys Klipmart

Zachary Rodgers, from clickz news, delivered an interesting blurb on the recent DoubleClick acquisition of video ad specialist Klipmart. DoubleClick will combine the company's technology and services with its own DART Motif rich media platform. The deal, for which terms were not disclosed, brings DoubleClick a step closer to being an end-to-end solution for rich media advertising. Klipmart ranks among the more sophisticated providers of video production services, an area where Motif is historically weak.

According to Rodgers, Klipmart should benefit from DoubleClick's democratic appeal to marketers, who for budgetary reasons may previously have shied away from the video vendor's reputation for high-end deployments.

With the acquisition, DoubleClick now employs 100 in rich media. In its announcement, the company said it will soon launch an "Innovation Lab" focused on taking video to multiple digital platforms.

Chris Young, Klipmart's CEO, will become EVP of rich media for DoubleClick, reporting directly to CEO David Rosenblatt. Klipmart co-founders Tristan Amzallag and Maria Klink will join DoubleClick's product management and service teams.

Klipmart is known for creating smooth user experiences for in-stream and in-page video ads, and for providing good customer service to agencies and advertisers. The company pioneered full-screen expansion of video ads, and publishes all video in multiple codecs to maximize the addressable audience.

"Klipmart has a superb reputation of creative video innovation and service," said David Rosenblatt, CEO of DoubleClick, in a statement. "Combining these strengths with DoubleClick's industry leadership, insight and global ad management platform will truly accelerate industry innovation in digital video and emerging advertising formats."

Klipmart's products will continue to be offered independently of DART, the companies said.

Klipmart was represented in the deal by The Jordan, Edmiston Group, a New York-based investment bank specializing in the media and information industries.

3 Keys To Success With Your Affiliate

Affiliate programs (also called Referral Programs or Partnership Programs) are essentially commission-based sales schemes.

Joining an affiliate program is a neat way to make money from your users. But just as you can join someone else's affiliate program, so you can set up your own program and invite webmasters to sign up. Here are my top 3 tips to succeed with your own affiliate program.

1. How to attract affiliates

One of the biggest fears new Affiliate managers have is in finding new affiliates. This fear is a stumbling block that stops many site owners from getting started with affiliate marketing. Interestingly, with a proper marketing strategy, getting affiliates may not be very difficult. Given below are some tips that may help in attracting new affiliates.

Find complimentary sites - "Complementary" sites are sites that sell products or services that compliment your offers. If you sell "gardening tools", a site that sells books on "gardening tips" would be a perfect affiliate.

Find content sites - There are many sites that do not sell any kind of product or service but are mainly content oriented sites. Such sites promote an idea, concept, study or belief. Content sites that are used as a resource for your target market are ideal affiliates.

Finally, there are several sites on the Internet dedicated to listing affiliate Programs. Get your program listed in these directories.

2. Classifying Affiliates for Better Management

The hardest part of administrating an Affiliate Program is deciding what your affiliates need to help make the sale. But, by carefully categorizing your affiliates, you can easily determine what their needs are and how to accurately meet them.

The first step is to pick at least three types of affiliate. Take a look at your affiliates and try to determine one outstanding characteristic that can easily be compared across the board and choose at least three types of the characteristic.

The Second Step is to determine the needs of each type. Each of your affiliate types will have different needs; some of their needs will overlap, but you should find a distinct difference in many of their needs. If you find that all of them have the same needs, go back to step one and re-think your types.

The Third Step involves the process of creating and compiling linking methods for each group of affiliates. Based on the needs you identified in Step two, create and compile linking methods for each type.

3. Safe Guarding Against Spam

Any time you run a program where your affiliates rely on other signups to generate profits, you will eventually have a problem with spam. One of your affiliates will inevitably get it into their head to blitz the Web with unwanted garbage.

When this happens you need to be ready to take action otherwise it will cost you! Your Internet company can boot you off your server and you can find yourself blacklisted. Not good for business. If you get an email from someone claiming they received spam with your URL, then take it as an early warning.

I am not advising you to immediately terminate the affiliate's account, but be sure to contact them to follow up on the complaint. Let your affiliate know you received a complaint and advise them to remove this person from their list.

If you only get one or two complaints, it's probably not spam, the complainants might simply have signed up for an email list and forgotten all about it. You will know when one of your affiliates is spamming, because you will get anywhere from 10 to 100 complaints in the same day all regarding the same URL.

The best thing to do in this case is to immediately terminate or disable the account of the affiliate URL that was spammed.

Running your own affiliate program can become an extrememly profitable venture for your business. You can recruit a HUGE sales force promoting your products for you, and ONLY pay them when you make a sale!

RSS Feed Generator for eBay

Want to be an affiliate for eBay? I did, and when I went to find out how to hook-up it was not easy to find the right information. So, I thought I would help make this process a whole lot easier for other affiliates.

First you will need to sign-up at Commission Junction as an affiliate for eBay.

Then, go to eBay's affiliate tools and click on RSS Feed Generator.

The RSS Feed Generator is an easy way for affiliates to generate RSS feeds that include trackable links to items. The RSS Feed Generator has been embedded into eBay Advanced Search and allows affiliates to create feeds that meet predefined search criteria.

You can generate feeds in three simple steps:
- Go to the Advanced Search page.
- Enter the search criteria that you want the RSS feeds to satisfy
- Enter your affiliate tracking information at the bottom of the page and click Submit.
The Search results page includes an RSS feed. The item links in the RSS feed includes your affiliate tracking information.

Now, click on Create RSS Feeds to get started on creating eBay feeds for your website or blog. I use Magpie RSS reader code to read in my rss feeds.

I also came across a nice post by SuperAff.com called The Poor Man's eBay RSS to WordPress Hack that offers you some other options. So, here's what SuperAff had to say….

Here’s an eBay workaround I’ve found that helps make affiliate life a little easier:

Install and activate the firstRSS WordPress Plugin. This will allow you to display RSS feeds within your WordPress posts.

Tip #1: Open the firstRSS.php file and change the cache_time to something like 30 minutes so that your eBay listings will always be fresh. Also change the items_limit to a reasonable amount–eBay’s lowest search results option is 25. I don’t know about you, but a blog post with 25 auction items displayed isn’t all that appealing.

Tip #2: You can choose to display both pictures & auction titles/information or just the auction titles.
eBay RSS Feed Generator: Generate the rss feed for the items you want to display within your WordPress posts.

Tip: Because the feed isn’t going to refresh every second, set the listings to end in more than 1 hour (found in eBay’s advanced search area) so your visitors will always view live auctions from your blog.
When you’re wanting to display auction results within a post, simply insert [rsspara:URL] or [rsslist:URL] within your blog post where you want the ebay auction results to display. Replace the URL with the ebay rss feed url. To display all the auction info, use rsspara, rsslist displays the titles only.

Benefits: Highly targeted ebay items are displayed within your blog posts since you can get very specific with your search terms. This method also keeps your juicy data private since you’re not using a third party feed display setup.

Drawback: It takes time to go to eBay, make your search & create your rss feed. Not much time, but it still has a lot of room for more automation.

Solution: I created my own WordPress Quicktag for eBay RSS results (read here how to do that). Now all I have to do is click my eBay quicktag when writing a blog post and simply edit the search phrase to what I want.

If you’d like to grab my copy of the quicktag hack, here’s the file: eBay Quicktag. Just save it as quicktags.js and upload to wp-includes/js folder.

Important: Make sure to change the afcj=12345 to your Commission Junction affiliate PID to afcj=yournumber.

The eBay quicktag displays in front of the “more” quicktag. You can move that wherever you want.

When writing a post, simply click the eBay quicktag to insert the rss ebay code. Change “insert+keywords+here” to whatever auction search results you want displayed (remember to use + between each word).

Customization Tip: You can create a special div to wrap around the rss code. For example: Have an ad box that aligns to the right of the page within the post that just lists the auction headings. Have the background a different shade than the rest of the blog post. The sky’s the limit . Simply include the

in the quicktag info so that it’s automatically included and add the div to your CSS file.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!
