Personally, I really like datafeeds. I think they're a way under used technology for working affiliate marketing.
I received an email this morning … and let me preface this by saying I like both guy who sent me the email and the company he was representing … but I was left wondering after reading the email.
It was a simple email. On December 11th there's going to be a live call that's free to those who register for it. That's the word from Affiliate Classroom. But, the email doesn't tell you WHO the free conference call is with … so, naturally you'll click the link to go see.
It's with Partner Centric … again, very cool.
Thing is, the email never tells you WHAT it is that you're signing up to learn about. They call it Free Affiliate Site Software … which could mean just about anything.
Okay, left to speculate … and that's all I'm doing … I'm guessing it's about datafeeds. Partner Centric has a nice datatfeed technology, which I'm guessing is way under used just like everyone else's is. So, good on them for offering to teach affiliates how to use it!
But, why can we just call it what it is? Why the code words Free Affiliate Site Software? When did "datafeed" become a dirty word?
Unless I'm totally wrong, and we know that's entirely possible. Find out Dec 11th … 300 seats in the room … http://www.affiliateclassroom.com/limited/ … find out for yourself.
I get so much email everyday, it's absolutely over whelming. There are things that I want to post about, but I'm too busy deleting to even have the time to post. I'm sure many of you know exactly what I'm talking about.
So, I thought I'd just post an overview for your review.
Who sends me the most opted-in email? Right now, it's Russell Bronson by far. So many emails, I just don't pay attention to them anymore. Today's email was Russell promoting Mike Filsaime. I unsubscribed from Mike's email because he was just flooding my in-box.
To be honest, when I see one marketer pushing another marketers stuff, I don't pay attention to it. It's pretty clear they're just cross promoting each other to make a few bucks. One of the other guys who does this a lot is Anik Singal at AffiliateClassroom.
When I get something from Affiliate Classroom, I check to see if it's really about Affiliate Classroom or if he's doing a promo for another marketer. If it's Affiliate Classroom, I'll read it … but anything else is just not worth the time.
What I really love is when I get a bunch of emails from all the players, all promoting the same thing. I'm torn. Who's links do I click to go see what it is now that I'm supposed to go buy?
By the way, Affiliate Classroom's April eMagazine is out. Now those are worth reading. Anik does a good job on those. Visit AffiliateClassroom.com to get yours.
I just received an email that made me laugh out loud … and I had to share. Everyone needs a good belly laugh once in a while. Here's the email with a few private informational parts removed:

AC Support
Affiliate Classroom
For the record, my affiliate links to AC are more about helping other marketers. So, no I wasn't planning on getting rich off this. The funds earned will go to supporting my work on the Affiliate Guild, where I'm tying to help newbie affiliates get going in this business. But still … this is pretty funny!
I really appreciate a company that has the honesty to say when they're experiencing difficulties. There's nothing like up-front honesty.
I received this email from Linkworth the other day, and thought it was good that they openly acknowledged an issue:
Dear Partners,
We had an unexpected issue pop up today right before we began submitting payouts. We are working frantically to get everything resolved and make sure payouts are sent before the end of the day. They should all get out today, just not as early as we usually get them out.
If you have submitted a ticket or email asking where your payout is, please let this serve as your response.
Thank you for your patience,
Ron Wicker
LinkWorth, LLC
I received a follow-up email today, letting me know that things had actually been resolved without any impact to me as their Partner. If I had been concerned, they lift it in a very professional way.
LinkWorth Partners
This month was our biggest payout month by a mile and when we were hit with a surprise by our bank, we were worried we wouldn't have enough time to complete payouts. NO WORRIES THOUGH!!! We finished with plenty of time.
We're looking forward to another record month with all of you.
Regards,
LinkWorth
Very professional in my book. Thumbs up for Linkworth from the Affiliate Blogger!

We've got some very interesting speakers lined up, and we're doing 2 days instead of 1. I hope to see many of you there again this year.
P.S. You're getting this email because you signed up for the 2006 WordCamp mailing list. This is the last message I'll send out to that list, so farewell and hope to see you again.
I was surfing around reading the blogs of other affiliate marketers, and I came across a post by Linda Buquet of 5 Star Affiliates that really bugged me. Not with Linda, no way, but with merchants who think they can rip off the affiliates and totally get away with it.
Seems that DadaMobile slammed shut the doors of their affiliate program right befor Christmas.
That means that any affiliates who were promoting their products and services are basically out of luck for their commissions. Man, I'd hate to be the guy running PPC ads for this affy program … that's gotta hurt!
I think merchants like DadaMobile need to be exposed … to the winter's elements … for the doing bad business.
If you're an affiliate with them, I'd highly recommend you get out of there NOW!!! If you've owed commissions from sales you made prior to the closing of their affiliate program, you need to demand payment. If they refuse, you affiliates need to files a class action suit. Stick together and shady merchants like this will not have as much of an impact in the Affiliate Marketing Industry.
I also received an Associate email from Amazon today outlining more changes to their affiliate payout structure. Man, they're down to 4% for affiliates now … that's just wrong!
The email continued:
Announcing Monthly Payments!
Beginning January 1, 2007, your Amazon Associates payments will be monthly instead of quarterly, paid approximately 60 days after the end of each month. For example, referral fees you earn in January will be paid at the end of March, and payment of referral fees earned in February will be paid at the end of April. As part of this change, referral fee tiers will be adjusted to reflect monthly instead of quarterly item quantities:
Amazon's also sending out another email to some of their associates. I haven't gotten this one yet myself:
Dear XXX,
At the end of the year Amazon.com will be changing the pay structure that it has in place with you today to one in which we pay you referral fees only on items that we send to you (and result in a sale on our website) on a regular basis.
To incorporate these new payment changes, we have attached an amendment to the existing Associates Operating agreement that you have in place with Amazon.com today. To migrate to the new pay structure, please print out, sign, and fax the amended agreement [fax #: (206) 266-1352] by close of business on Thursday, December 28. Alternatively, if you prefer to not continue as an Amazon Associate, there is no action required on your part because our existing agreement will be terminated as of Friday, December 29. Please note that if you choose to discontinue with the Associates program, you will still be paid standard referral fees up through December 31 of 2006.
Amazon.com values our business relationship and we certainly hope that you choose to continue as a member of the Amazon Associates program. We recognize that transitioning to a new business model may have its challenges, which is why we are open to your feedback on this new payment structure moving forward.
